Stedelijk Museum

Go to this if you go to Amsterdam.  When I go back later in the year, I will definitely re-visit it.  There was a temporary Mike Kelley exhibition on when I went last weekend too.

Staying in the Museum Quarter was a good choice.

Street Art Paris

Not just awe-inspiring monuments, parks and architecture to admire; Paris is home to such fresh, inventive street art also.
This is a small selection of what I came across.

Current Addiction

Avocados.  Also, painting my nails.  Seriously, every day.  Waiting for/traveling on public transport.  That spare 5 mins before the working day starts that should be spent consuming caffiene.  On my lunch break.  Before I'm rushing out at night.  Before I'm going to bed... There's always a spare few minutes that can incorporate it....

I got some wonderfully tacky diamonte nail stickers given to me this week, so kids/psychedlic nails have been for the win the last couple of days.

I want to do something like this though:

BUY my BOW BELLE vest

Last year I entered the Design a Vest competition ran my London knitwear company Grannies Inc. and won!
As a result; my design is now available to buy from their website here:

The vest is machine knitted using 100% pure american wool and features a plunging v-neck backline, with bow detail and a hand crocheted trim.  The front of the vest has a higher v-neck; although you can choose to wear it whichever way you like

Bike Component Project ~ Interiors

Some of my work from a project I completed during my second year of study, which I have since been developing ~

The theme for this project was anything industrial and/or mechanical. I found my visual inspiration from gear cogs, bike cranks, chains and barb wire.

The shapes and patterns formed by such objects really interests me, especially focusing on bike cassettes and how all the components are constructed and work together.

The fabrics I designed were intended for interiors, examples of which I have included here ~

I incorporated gear shapes in my knitted samples, which I created on my knitting machine. I found this a really effective and rewarding technique as it appeals to my love of constructing.

I have since continued to work with the project theme and have begun to develope my work from knitted samples into pieces for interiors.

This is the first of my final works, although there are many more currently in the creating proccess, so the collection will be expanding in the very near future!
