unstashed

I knitted this cardi a few years ago now.  I haven't worn it much; mainly because I've been a bit too precious over it (a lot of time went into making this) and partly because I really didn't like the original buttons I'd sewn on it.  Time for a change.  Small details can really alter the appearance of things.
I'd forgotten how many pretty little treasures I had stashed away in my button collection.
Bags and tins and boxes in boxes of them

These multi coloured buttons are the perfect match for the textured forest green cardigan.  I got these from MacCulloch & Wallis (off Oxford Street) back when I used to work there.
I'd completely forgotten I had them.
Now it'll definitely get worn.  I love it like it was new

Bobbles + Bright

One of the several pairs of 'Easy Knit Socks' I've made up from my Textured Knits book (Julia Cooper)

I've also made myself some sparkly purple ones & a green pair, with alternate coloured bobbles; as a present. They went down a treat.
A classic case of 'runnning-out-of-yarn-at-the-end-of-the-second-sock' scenario that sometimes occurs when knitting socks from the top down.
Oh well.

Bobbles & Crochet Crop Top

A little top I knitted up just for a bit of fun.
I had never knitted a vest by hand before so just wanted to play around with it.  I used a DK cotton for the top half, which gives it a satisfying weighty feel; then continued by increasing my stitches and knitting in simple stocking stitch, using a fine wool yarn.

I added a row of bobbles down the front to help break up the plain knitting and add that little 'clown' touch to things...
Then finished it off with a crochet scalloped edge.
It's simple, but it fits.  So I'm happy with it!
